Bedford Park Board Briefs 1. The Board is in the process of negotiating a refinancing of bonds for the hotel project. The money saved on the refinancing should permit the Village to complete pending capital projects. 2. To clarify rumors that are going around, there is an investigation by a federal agency and our local police that pertains to possible violations of village ordinances, state and federal law with the storage of chemicals in the industrial area. Three Village employees were put on administrative leave pending completion of the investigation. The Village is cooperating fully with the investigation and, hopefully, the process with be completed soon. 3. Ed Shiltka of Justice has been named our part-time Building Inspector. He owns a repair business that does insurance work and is the Building Inspector for Justice. Ed will deal with transfer stamps and basic inspections in the residential area only. 4. The Village is continuing to oppose the lawsuit brought against us by CSWS concerning their proposed adult entertainment center at 70th PL and Central in the industrial area. We should have more information for the residents soon on this matter. 5. Plans are under way for the Village Picnic on August 13th . We also will be recognizing World War II veterans at the picnic. 6. The Village is looking at licensing contractors who do work in the Village. This is a common practice in many of our surrounding communities. This will permit us to compile a list of approved contractors for our residents and the businesses. 7. The Beautification and Welcoming Committees are in the process of beginning their work. Thanks to our residents that have volunteered their time to serve on these committees. 8.
