Bedford Park Board Briefs 1. The new Board began their work on May 2nd . 2. Frank Basile was appointed as our interim part-time Village Administrator. Mr. Basile will work mainly with finance and economic development. He is the retired Superintendent of Argo High School. 3. CSWS has filed suit against the Village in federal court over 1st Amendment rights because of the Village's rejection of their request for a variance to have an adult entertainment center/restaurant in the industrial area. The Village has filed an objection to the suit. 4. The Board has established by ordinance a Beautification Committee and a Welcoming Committee. The committees will begin their work in July. The Beautification Committee's first task will be to develop a plan for the old gas station property along Archer Avenue . The Welcoming Committee will greet new residents and businesses to the Village. 5. The Board has established the position of part-time Building Inspector. The individual will be responsible for the residential area. The main responsibilities of the position will be issuing transfer stamps and property upkeep. We hope to have the new inspector on duty by July 1st . 6. Long time fire fighter and former Village resident Craig Gee has announced his retirement effective June, 2006. Congratulations to Craig and thanks for your service to the Village. 7. The Board has established a scholarship fund for college students from the Village who do community service work for our senior citizens. 8. The Board is investigating the process of internet access for our residents. 9. The Village Picnic will be held on August 13th . Further information will be sent to you prior to that date. 10. The Village is in the process of completing a study to help economic development. 11. The Board has established a four year plan for capital improvements including new alleys in the residential area. 12. The Board is in the process of negotiating bonds to help finance capital improvements. 13. The Public Works Department has been working on the parkway areas to help level these areas out. An arborist from Davey Tree has inspected our trees and the trees needing removal have been removed. 14. Jennifer Fasano has been appointed as a Firefighter. We wish Jennifer a successful career with the Village. 15. The Police have issued approximately 30 tickets for non compliance with the vehicle sticker ordinance and several speeding tickets in the residential area. Please comply with the vehicle sticker ordinance and observe our speed limits.
